I turned an exceptional high school volleyball career into a mediocre college one. Not for lack of skill or for lack of opportunity. I had both of those. I got recruited to a top volleyball school and got plenty of playing time. It wasn't for lack of those things. It was for lack of maturity and information. I didn't know at the time what my college coaches were looking for. Although I knew how to get into college sports at that time, I didn't know what it would take to succeed.
The steps to succeed in sports and play for a college team are simple, but not always easy. Everyone high schooler out there needs to know that if they play sports, there is a place for them to play in college.
